MSE Welcomes New Faculty

By Jen Potter

This fall the Master of Software Engineering Programs is pleased to welcome new faculty Swarnalatha Ashok.

“I’m excited to welcome Swarna into the MSE community,” Travis Breaux, the director of MSE programs said. “Swarna’s experience is truly outstanding, as she directed a world-renowned masters program at the National University of Singapore, co-developed a national training program, and worked with industry to develop projects and curricula. We look forward to learning from her achievements as she contributes her experience and professionalism to our MSE family of programs.”

Prior to joining the MSE, Ashok served as a Senior Lecturer and Program Director for the Smart City Management and Technology major at Singapore Management University. She has more than 20 years of experience in higher education having also served as a principal lecturer and the Chief of the Master of Technology in Software Engineering degree program at the National University of Singapore, and more than 10 years in industry.

“I’m absolutely thrilled and excited to join the faculty at such a prestigious institution. I look forward to interacting with my colleagues and contributing to the program by teaching and developing a stackable graduate certificate program. Earning graduate certificates is a  great way for working professionals to upskill and there is the potential, if one plans well, to earn a master’s degree. We had great success with the stackable graduate certificate program at the National University of Singapore and I look forward to developing a similar program for the MSE.”

This fall Ashok will teach the Design Patterns course and co-teach the API Design course.
