We're Hiring! Full-time Teaching Faculty

The MSE program is looking for outstanding, entrepreneurial individuals who are excited about teaching and mentoring the next generation of software engineers at one of the top schools in computer science. The MSE program has a unique 30-year history and an enthusiasm for adapting to meet the software development challenges of the day. With our dedicated coursework, high achieving students, and extensive alumni network of over 1,200 graduates, the MSE program attracts the attention of industrial partners across a wide variety of industries.

Teaching faculty appointed to the MSE program are invited to innovate, which is why the teaching load is lower than most other institutions: faculty teach two and one half full semester courses per year, and mentor three to four studio projects per year. This load affords faculty the freedom to engage with industry, develop new electives and programs, and be model mentors and entrepreneurs. With the support of fellow faculty and the Eberly Center, our faculty have the time to reflect on their teaching practice in creative and challenging ways, to go beyond the status quo, and to train the agents of change who will go on to transform the industry.

Finally, CMU has a generous benefits package for teaching faculty, including competitive contributions to faculty retirement accounts, full-semester paid parental leave for newborn or adopted children, and tuition support for a faculty member’s dependents attending college.
