Shreya Kuchibhatla joined Carnegie Mellon’s Master of Software Engineering (MSE) Scalable Systems program with the goal of advancing her expertise in scalable systems and preparing to tackle complex challenges in the tech industry. Coming from a strong foundation in computer science gained through her studies at Mahindra University and internships at Dell Technologies, Shreya recognized the need to deepen her technical expertise and leadership skills to drive innovation in the evolving technology landscape. “I discovered early on that I had a natural aptitude for computer science. However, I realized that I needed to equip myself with advanced learning to stay ahead in this rapidly evolving field. It wasn’t just about acquiring more knowledge; it was about transforming myself into a technology leader. For that, I knew Carnegie Mellon was the perfect place,” she reflects.

Through the MSE’s unique and comprehensive curriculum, Shreya acquired a well-rounded competence in software architecture, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. “The program’s focus on scalable systems, combined with its emphasis on stakeholder perspectives, allowed me to develop enterprise-level solutions that address large-scale business challenges,” she shares. One pivotal experience for Shreya was her Machine Learning internship at Amazon in Bellevue, WA, where she worked on a framework that integrates Generative AI into internal projects, providing a scalable architecture to improve data management and operational efficiency across teams. The experience taught me the importance of aligning customer-centric tech innovations with strategic business goals, ensuring that solutions are not only effective but also impactful. 

Shreya credits the MSE program for providing her with a robust foundation in both technical and leadership skills that have already proven valuable in her career. This program enabled me to explore and excel in AI and machine learning, preparing me to thrive in a globally competitive tech landscape," she says. She also appreciates the collaborative learning environment at Carnegie Mellon, where she was able to work closely with peers from diverse backgrounds. “Learning from my classmates was an invaluable part of my experience, as their insights helped me build resilience and adaptability in fast-paced, dynamic environments. 

Shreya envisions a future where she can further develop her expertise in innovation-driven tech environments. Her passion lies in roles focused on scalable systems and high-performance AI, where she can contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions that make a meaningful impact. "I’m excited to engage in every stage of system development and work with emerging AI and ML technologies," Shreya shares. "My goal is to deliver solutions that not only achieve technical excellence but also bring lasting value to users and organizations alike."
